Bananas for Gaming
My gaming experience began when arcades were available in the mid-’70s and ’80s. Unaware, how bananas the gaming world is going to be in the future. Today, I no longer consider myself a gamer. Games that would catch my android phone's attention are puzzle games such as “Block Puzzle Game” and “Go.”.
When I would play these games, I liked how time would pass if I needed to wait a few minutes, wanting to tire my mind before bed and preparing my thinking process for a new assignment. The problem for me is discipline and knowing when to limit my playing and focus on my priorities.
Because both are strategy games and did not know the differences before taking a Social Media course #CIS103, showed a new online player (like me) how the gaming world has changed and how adaptable we can become a regular online gamer. I then asked my brother about what is new in the world of online gaming? He suggested a game my nieces and nephews play named “My Friend Pedro.” After applying to a platform, “The web store,” I began to get access to play online and knowing the risk involved with the internet. I made a real effort to secure my information and upgraded my PC security.
“My friend Pedro” was an excellent experience! Not what I expected because the genre is an Action, Shooter, and Indie “shoot-um up” game. Surprised by how fast I could catch on to the movements. The game itself was user-friendly, and I like that about the game. The shooter has a banana friend named Pedro and talks and guides the shooter. Because the shooter is the only one who can see his banana friend (Pedro), it is funny how Pedro’s word context is and interesting how it attracts people who can relate to having an imaginary friend. Well, that is my opinion. I did have a lot of trouble with the speed of the game. I could not understand why this was slow for me. Maybe the pc I used was not enough RAM, or I used a free online source. Regardless I still like the game.
I played the game about four times on my PC https://www.crazygames.com platform. After a quick observation on Twitch’s platform, game description: “My Friend Pedro is a violent ballet about friendship and imagination where players strategically bounce bullets off frying pans and jump through windows in slow motion.”
I will explore online gaming soon and continue to play “My Friend Pedro” Because of social media, I observed how females and males prefer different types and genres. I began to look at the statistics and compared online games and the gamers involved.
In the “Twitch” platform, there are 30.7K followers. The game (MFP) can be a one-player or multiplayer experience. I did not do a multi-player because I am not there yet. I used Twitch’s filter for English-speaking videos which, amounted to twenty-four players and out of all twenty-four English-speaking videos. I could confirm two females out of this total number. The statistics in my small example confirms the same resource received by our CIS103 course; These are the statistics recorded in “The Pew Research Center.”
I prefer puzzles/strategy from the information learned from playing a shooter game because I like learning something new and more private. I completely understand why many people utilize social media markets and platforms to accomplish any business or any professional venture. Sharing with social media is needed to obtain resources, information, and research tools. Social media does not mean this has to be all business. Social media can be entertaining and fun for the right reasons.
